Deputy Governor in charge of the Social Sector, Green Development, and Air and Environmental Pollution Z.Tumurtumuu met with the representatives led by Deputy Mayor of Hohhot of Inner Mongolia of People's Republic of China Zhang Jifei. During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on cooperation between the two cities.

Deputy Governor of the capital, Z.Tumurtumuu, emphasized that in the past, friendly relations and cooperation between the two cities has expanded in the fields of trade, economy, culture, education, health, and tourism and expressed the capital city’s readiness to continue this relation and cooperate in many directions. The representatives of the Hohhot expressed their request to cooperate in many fields, starting with increasing the green areas in the capital.

On December 10, 1991, Ulaanbaatar signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Hohhot to establish sister-city relations. In 2021, on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of sister-city relations, the Mayors of the two cities signed a new Memorandum of Understanding on the expansion of friendly relations and cooperation.
