Ninety-nine households evacuated from flood risk areas

The Governor of the capital has issued an order to demolish 2,355 garages in 132 locations this year in order to ensure citizens' right to live in a healthy and safe environment, improve land use, and increase the area of sidewalks, green areas, and public roads. Within the framework of the order, 1,813 garages in 102 locations have been demolished, and the work process is 77 percent complete.

In addition, 8,651 meters of fences in 110 locations out 8,771 meters of non-standard fences in 111 locations were vacated. Moreover, the Land Management Department of the Capital City is organizing the relocation of households in flood risk areas. In seven districts, 2,900 household units are affected by flood risk areas, 2,165 with permission and 735 without permission. As of today, 99 households have been evacuated from flood risk areas. The remaining households are included in the land management plan to be relocated to 427 hectares of land in 29 locations in seven districts. In addition, the work of taking the flood-risk areas of Selbe and Dund rivers into special use is ongoing. There are 1,850 hectares of special and ordinary protected areas along the Selbe and Dund rivers with a length of 50.6 km. Out of this, 534 hectares in the special protection zone for local special protection under the category of nature reserve was presented at the meeting of the council of the Governor of the Capital and is ready to be submitted to the Citizens’ Representative Khural. In five districts, 1,887 units have been affected in the protection zone of Selbe and Dund rivers.
