Representatives of the Korea Environment Corporation /K-Eco/ worked in Ulaanbaatar on March 6-9 as part of the implementation of the project "Solving the problems of sanitary facilities in some parts of the ger areas of Ulaanbaatar". In this context, the officials led by Senior Advisor for administrative and legal affairs to the capital city Governor D. Munkh-Erdene and Director of the K-Eco Mr.Kiwon met and exchanged views about the project plan.
During the meeting, the participants discussed about measures to be implemented within the project, such as replacing pit latrines in some parts of the ger areas with container-based sanitary facilities, preventing soil and underground pollution, improving hygiene, and creating models.
The financing agreement was signed in November 2022 to implement the project with a grant from the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Korea. The project will be implemented until 2025 by the Academy of Sciences of Mongolia in cooperation with the K-Eco. In addition, the project aims to implement programs to collect the dirty soil, manage the safe collection of the dirty soil, create a favorable environment, improve the operation of sanitary facilities and knowledge about the importance of hygiene.
