At the initiative of the Governor of the capital city and Mayor of Ulaanbaatar D.Sumiyabazar, the SMES Support Center of Ulaanbaatar organized a complex event of trade fairs and investment cooperation for the Lunar New Year "Amar baina uu 2023". The trade fair lasted for a month and the sales results were presented.

Mongolians buy 1.3 trillion MNT worth of goods during the Lunar New Year. Therefore, the Mayor's initiative, which emphasizes that 940,000 households in the country should not receive handouts from abroad, support the national production, and keep around one trillion MNT in the country, put into practice.

371 national dress makers, 190 souvenir manufacturers, 453 food product manufacturers or more than 1000 SMES providers from nine districts of the capital and 21 provinces participated in the trade fair and sold their products without paying any rent. In this way, 45,000 types of goods were displayed and more than 230,000 citizens were served. Specifically, SMES providers in the field of national dress making successfully participated in the "Amar baina uu 2023" trade fair with a sales income of 13.8 billion MNT, souvenir product manufacturers 10.6 billion MNT, and food product manufacturers 24.5 billion MNT. In total, it sold 48.9 billion MNT and kept this amount of cash flow domestically.

Also, the delivery service of the goods displayed at the trade fair was introduced in cooperation with Shoppy.mn and Ardshop.mn, and more than 400 types of goods of more than 50 SMEs were placed on these digital platforms, and sales of 250 million MNT were made.

About 70 percent or 43,286 of the SMES providers in Mongolia operate in Ulaanbaatar. More than 675,000 people work in this industry. The decision of the city authorities to support SMES providers in the capital city and in the local area, showed its result.
