"Ulaanbaatar 2023" East Asian Youth Games /EAYG/ will be held in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, on August 16-23 this year. Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the EAYG, Governor of the capital city and Mayor of Ulaanbaatar D.Sumiyabazar met with Vice Minister of Sport, Vice President of National Olympic Council of the People's Republic of China Zhou Jinqiang, and exchanged views.
About 1,500 athletes from nine East Asian Olympic Committees will participate in 11 types of sport. Preparations for organizing the EAYG are 70-80 percent according to plan.
The East Asian Olympic Committee includes nine National Olympic Committees from China, Japan, South Korea, North Korea, Macao, Taiwan, Guam, Hong Kong and Mongolia. At their first session in 1991, committees decided to organize the East Asian Games, and the first one was held in Shanghai in 1993. The Games was held every four years until 2013, when it changed its form and became the East Asian Youth Games.
