The cities of the world are determining their social and economic development and solving the issues based on multidisciplinary, independent, and scientific research and analysis.

In Ulaanbaatar city, the Capital City Policy Research and Analysis Center, consisting of researchers and experts from various sectors were established last September. This is the first time that the Capital City Policy Research and Analysis Center or "Think Tank" of Ulaanbaatar City has been established to study social and economic development and determine its future direction. The Policy and Analysis Center, which can be said to be the "Brain" of the city, has successfully completed many pieces of research and analyzes in the social, economic, and environmental fields in a short period of time.

D. Sumiyabazar: The optimal decision will be made taking into account the factor, solution, and effect of the issue

Governor of the Capital City and Mayor of Ulaanbaatar D.Sumiyabazar emphasized the importance of defining the problems of Ulaanbaatar city using scientific methods, creating basic information, and determining efficient solutions and ways.

The Mayor said that the pressing issues in the capital city are wide in scope and amplitude. The decisions made by the city administration are critical and very responsible. Therefore, it is impossible to make a decision based on guesswork or a single situation. When making any decision, the government, citizens, situation, and consequences should be taken into consideration, and the decision should be made at the intersection of all these. Thus, the Capital City Policy Research and Analysis Center were first established at the initiative of the Governor of the capital city. Current and future decisions are based on scientific research and analysis, and many aspects are calculated.

R. Dagwa: Scientific research will be conducted and on-point solutions will be proposed

Director of the Capital City Policy Research and Analysis Center R.Dagva gave information on the center and its activities. He said “Professional researchers from all sectors have been brought together, conducting scientific research and analysis, and offering appropriate solutions. On the other hand, by defining the issue in a wide scope, the decisions made will be friendly to all aspects, such as the comfort, living environment, and health of the citizens.

Our team is currently conducting research on a number of pressing issues, from urban roads and infrastructure to food security. Statistical information is being compiled and data analysis is being performed. In terms of processes, the spatial analysis will be performed, system dynamic modeling will be developed, and efficiency will be calculated. In another word, the issues will be scientifically studied and researched from many angles.

These researches create basic conditions that will have immediate and direct results in the development of the city and the livelihood of citizens.

The importance of reliable and factual information based on research and analysis continues to grow nowadays. Emphasis on calculation and research when solving, building, or modifying any problem will prevent many problems that may arise in the future. For Ulaanbaatar as well, it can be seen that having an organization that conducts policy research, develops and proposes specific solutions, and conducts advocacy activities was another right step.
