Acting head of the Governor’s Office of Capital city I.Baatarkhuu signed a turnkey basis contract for the construction of the railway underpass project at four locations in Ulaanbaatar city. The project will be implemented within the framework of the Development Guide-Infrastructure project with the concessional loan funds of the Government of the People’s Republic of China.

The parties highlighted the importance of tackling traffic congestion in the vertical direction in the four main locations of the capital city.

The general contractor of the project is China TIESIJU Civil Engineering Group Ltd., and the design work of the underpass is now started. Design work is planned to be completed in eight months, and construction is planned to begin in the second quarter of 2023, with construction work will be completed in 18 months.

The railway underpass will be implemented at the following four locations:

-The right side of the Tavan Shar railway crossing, Songinokhairkhan District;

-Central Geological Laboratory railway intersection, Songinohairkhan district;

-Railway in front of Hermes center, Bayangol district;

-Intersection between Narnii Road and Ikh Toiruu Street.

The project is a part of the comprehensive measures to reduce traffic congestion in Ulaanbaatar.
