Ulaanbaatar Mayor welcomes and congratulates athletes successfully participated in Asian Cycling Championships

Governor of the Capital City and Mayor of Ulaanbaatar D.Sumiyabazar welcomed and congratulated the medal winners of the Asian Cycling Championships /ACC/ 2022. The meeting was attended by President of the Mongolian Cycling Federation N.Boldkhuu, coach of the Atilla team Ya.Baatar and six athletes who successfully participated in the competition.

The ACC was held in March 2022 in Dushanbe, Tajikistan and athletes from about 20 Asian countries competed. Seven athletes from Mongolia competed and won seven medals, as well as a silver medal as a team. In 1974, Mongolia won four bronze medals in cycling for the first time at the AAC in Iran.

President of the Mongolian Cycling Federation N.Boldkhuu said, “In 2020, we were ranked 43rd out of 201 countries in the world in cycling, and this year, we are ranked 34th in the world, third out of 68 countries in Asia. Further, we want to organize public activities in cooperation with the city authorities and build more bicycle lanes. Every country in the world has a team with its own city’s name. Therefore, we are aiming to establish 'Ulaanbaatar' team and raise our city's name."

The Mayor expressed support for the establishment of a bicycle training ground in several locations and for the establishment ofUlaanbaatar team. Moreover, he requested that their necessary research and calculations be made and formal proposal be submitted.
