The finals of the “Ulaanbaatar Cup 2022” 3x3 basketball tournament organized by the Governor's office of the Capital city and the Mongolian 3x3 Basketball Association were held on June 1 and the winners were announced. A total of 3,264 players from 768 teams participated in the tournament.
Mongolian 3x3 Basketball Association planned to organize eight tournaments this year, one of which was the “Ulaanbaatar Cup 2022” 3x3 basketball tournament. 3x3 basketball is one of the official sports of the Olympic Games, also known internationally as an urban team sport. The tournament took place at the Sukhbaatar Square between May 16 and June 1 on a 3x3 basketball court built in accordance with the standard.
During the awards ceremony, the Mayor of Ulaanbaatar D.Sumiyabazar highlighted ‘The 3x3 basketball tournament will be annually organized from this year on. Therefore, the capital city will cooperate with private sectors to build 3x3 basketball courts in 118 locations in nine districts to support the youth. 59 of which are expected to be built this year. We would like to thank the private sector for co-organizing this tournament. I wish the Mongolian youth to raise the name of the country and become Olympic and World champions.”

Women’s category:
First place - “Kobe” team of Bayangol district
Second place - Teachers' Team of Bayanzurkh District
Third place - “Tamir” team of Khan-Uul district
Men's category:
First place - “Tescoma” team of Bayanzurkh district
Second place - “Molten” team of Khan-Uul district
Third place - “NUM - Shonkhoruud” team of Sukhbaatar district
Best female player - U.Uyanga, athlete of “Kobe” team of Bayangol district
Best male player - Sh.Ochir-Ulzii, athlete of “Tescoma” team of Bayanzurkh district
In addition, 4,860 garages are being demolished in 188 locations to ensure the right of citizens to live in a healthy and safe environment, and to improve public land use. The district authorities have proposed to build 3x3 basketball courts in the vacated areas. The Bayangol district submitted a proposal to the Urban Planning and Development Agency to build a 3x3 basketball court in four locations where garages were vacated, in four locations in Bayanzurkh district, and in one location in Chingeltei district.
