Governor of the Capital City and Mayor of Ulaanbaatar D.Sumiyabazar received a delegation led by President of the Korean Table Tennis Association, Olympic champion Ryu Seung-min.
During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on the 2nd East Asian Youth Games to be held in 2023 in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
The Mayor noted that since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and the Republic of Korea in 1990, bilateral relations and cooperation have expanded in many fields, including economy, culture, arts, and tourism. He also stressed that the capital city authorities are committed to developing Ulaanbaatar into a city with healthy and sporty citizens, creating a favorable environment for foreign and domestic investors and businesses, and prioritizing sustainable development.
President of the Korean Table Tennis Association Ryu Seung-min also expressed his confidence that the two countries' cooperation would expand and more children and young people would play table tennis, and become world medalists. He said that there are broad opportunities to implement projects in the field of sports.
The East Asian Youth Games is one of the official regional games of the International Olympic Committee and the Olympic Council of Asia. Representatives of the East Asian Games Association and the Mongolian National Olympic Committee signed a tripartite agreement in 2017 and officially decided to hold the 2nd East Asian Youth Games in 2023 in the capital of Mongolia.
