Ulaanbaatar to cooperate with UNDP to increase the use of renewable energy

Deputy Governor in charge of the Social Sector, Green Development, and Air and Environmental Pollution O.Nominchimeg met with the UNDP Resident Representative to Mongolia Matilda Dimovska, and signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the Governor’s Office of the Capital City and UNDP.

Within the framework of the MoU, the parties will develop joint solutions and implement projects in the areas of reducing air pollution, increasing the use of renewable energy, improving the citizens' resilience to climate change, and ensuring gender equality. In particular, the parties are aiming to introduce environmentally friendly technological solutions by supporting female heads of households, implementing renewable energy-based heating solutions for households in the ger areas of Ulaanbaatar, and developing a national carbon market system and regulation.
