Governor of the Capital city and Mayor of Ulaanbaatar D.Sumiyabazar and other relevant officials met with the representatives led by Vice Mayor of Tianjin Zhu Peng and exchanged views on cooperation between the two cities. Ulaanbaatar - Tianjin Trade and Investment Forum of was held on September 20, and the government and private sector organizations of the two cities signed the memorandums of cooperation.

In February of this year, Mayor D.Sumiyabazar worked on an official appointment to Beijing, Tianjin, and Chongqing of China, and met with Tianjin Party Committee Chairman Chen Min-Ar and Tianjin Mayor Zhang Gong to discuss relations and cooperation between the two cities. The representatives who participated in the meeting emphasized that the issues discussed during his appointment are starting to be implemented.

Governor of the Capital city and Mayor of Ulaanbaatar D.Sumiyabazar said, "Mongolia and China share a border of 4710 km and are friendly neighbors. Currently, the relations between the two countries have reached the level of a comprehensive strategic partnership, and it is being developed intensively in all sectors and being enriched with new contents. Tianjin is Mongolia's main gateway to the sea, and 88 percent of all imports from Mongolia to China are transported through Tianjin Port. In this context, the city of Ulaanbaatar attaches great importance to the expansion of mutually beneficial, and practical cooperation with the cities of China, including Tianjin, and is ready to take the relationship to a new level in the future.

Vice Mayor of Tianjin Zhu Peng emphasized that this official appointment aims to bring cooperation with Mongolia, especially Ulaanbaatar, to a new level and intensify it.

In 1992, Ulaanbaatar established a sister-city relations with Tianjin. Last year marked the 30th anniversary of the establishment of friendly relations between the two cities, and in November, a new memorandum was signed between Ulaanbaatar and Tianjin on the expansion of sister-city relations. Over the past 30 years, the two cities have had relations in all fields, including trade, economy, culture, and humanitarian, and cooperation has been expanding.
