Deputy Governor in charge of the Social Sector, Green Development, and Air and Environmental Pollution Z.Tumurtumuu met with the representatives led by Vice President of the Korean National Tuberculosis Association /KNTA/ Shin Hee Bok. During the meeting, the association expressed its request to implement a project against tuberculosis in Ulaanbaatar.

The KNTA is a non-profit organization founded in 1953. Since 2014, it has been carrying out anti-tuberculosis activities in Ulaanbaatar, and in the last four years, short-term projects have been implemented with the support of KOICA. Moreover, the organization started cooperating with six districts of the capital city in tuberculosis detection activities from 2020. During this period, it is executing the early detection of close contacts of registered tuberculosis patients, treatment and control of infected cases.

In the past, only short-term projects were implemented, but this time a long-term project was developed, said Shin Hee Bok. They also presented their project to the Ministry of Health and the National Center for Infectious Diseases of Mongolia.

Within the framework of the project, the KNTA has planned to implement following activities:

• To establish a healthcare organization specialized in tuberculosis treatment, care and services;
• To provide x-ray remote and artificial intelligence diagnostic services to healthcare institutions;
• To provide tuberculosis bacteriological analysis services;
• To provide mobile laboratory services in remote areas.

Deputy Governor Z.Tumurtumuu expressed his gratitude to the representative and the capital’s support to the project, which is helpful for promoting public health and preventing infectious diseases. The Governor’s Office and the Health Department of the Capital city will cooperate in the further planning and operation of the project.
