The meeting of the council of Governor of the capital city, chaired by First Deputy Governor in charge of Economy and infrastructure J.Sandagsuren, was held on August 24. At the meeting, the process of preparation for the 2023-2024 academic year and the draft procedure for the approval and implementation of City Standards were discussed.

In the 2023-2024 academic year, 129,946 children are expected to be involved in a total of 667 public and private kindergartens. A total of 384,676 students will study in 307 general education schools, and 35,866 of them will enroll in the first grade.

It is planned to organize the online registration of enrollment to the kindergartens of the capital city in two stages, and in the first stage of registration, 104,762 children or 73.3 percent of the 142,798 children who are eligible for preschool education have applied. The second stage of registration is expected to take place between September 11 and 22.

In Ulaanbaatar, 47 schools, 88 kindergartens, elementary schools, 25 kindergarten complexes, three sports halls, one boarding school, a total of 164 projects and measures are being implemented with the state, capital and district budget funds. Since the beginning of the year, a total of five schools, two kindergarten complexes, and 14 kindergarten buildings have been put into operation in the capital. As a result, capacity of schools was increased by 4,080 and and kindergartens by 2,910 from last year. Moreover, as part of increasing access to kindergartens, 83 buildings in the capital were rented for kindergartens and 9,240 beds were added. As for general education schools, 22 buildings have been leased and 13,815 seats were added, and three shifts have been transferred to two shifts. In addition, a total of 288 buses will be in service under the School Bus project.

According to the minutes of the council meeting, by First Deputy Governor in charge of Economy and Infrastructure J.Sandagsuren gave tasks to pay attention on completing the projects being implemented in the general education schools and kindergartens within the planned period. Moreover, the relevant officials were instructed to carefully prepare for the new academic year and pay attention to organizing.
