Governor of the capital city and Mayor of Ulaanbaatar D.Sumiyabazar is working on an official appointment in the Republic of Korea. He started his working visit with a meeting with the Chairman of the Seoul Metropolitan Council Kim Hyeon-gi.
Mongolia established diplomatic relations with its third neighbor the Republic of Korea, in 1990. The governments of the two countries are jointly implementing the project of an apartment of 2007 households in Ulaanbaatar. Moreover, within the framework of the project "Establishment of a public library abroad /ODI/" provided by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Korea, the Ulaanbaatar City Public Library was renovated into a modern standard library, the equipment was renewed and the project was discussed and supported during the pandemic. The views were exchanged on expanding the friendly relations between the two cities and projects implemented within the framework of cooperation.
Governor of the capital city and Mayor of Ulaanbaatar D.Sumiyabazar said, “The Government of Mongolia supports the "Busan 2030" world exhibition in every way. Ulaanbaatar will also show support. I am confident that Mongolia and Ulaanbaatar will be able to overcome the difficulties and reach the appropriate stage of development. South Korea has a history of overcoming difficult times with the unity, proper organization, and desire of its people. The city of Ulaanbaatar has submitted regulations for attracting foreign investors, supporting them, and protecting investors' capital to the Citizens Reprensentative Khural, and is working to regulate them according to its own norms. In addition, the Ad Hoc Committee in charge of Ulaanbaatar City Development Policy, consisting of 26 members of the State Great Khural, was established for the first time in the State Great Khural, and the laws and legal regulations to support the development of the city were approved. We would like to cooperate with the Republic of Korea and exchange experience in the areas of housing, increasing green areas, and developing and landscaping the river basin in Ulaanbaatar.”
He also expressed his position on protecting the interests of Mongolian citizens living and working in the Republic of Korea, preventing human rights violations, and ensuring labor safety.
Chairman of the Seoul Metropolitan Council Kim Hyeon-gi said, “In addition to prosperity, the capital city has many problems, such as population concentration, traffic congestion, housing, and the environment. The city of Seoul will cooperate with the city of Ulaanbaatar through its policies, methods and experience. Since there are many Mongolian citizens living in South Korea, attention will be paid to ensure a safe and peaceful life in Seoul.”
At the end of the meeting, the Mayor invited Chairman of the Seoul Metropolitan Council to visit Ulaanbaatar.
