Governor of the capital city and Mayor of Ulaanbaatar D.Sumiyabazar met with representatives of the Asian Development Bank and exchanged views on the development of Ulaanbaatar's ger area and investment support program.
As part of the first phase of the project, a plan to partially develop the northern area of the city into Bayankhoshuu and Selbe sub-centers was made, and the construction of these sub-centers was completed last year. Currently, the construction of the next phase, Tolgoit and Dambadarjaa sub-centers, is underway. In this regard, the monitoring team of the Asian Development Bank worked on the implementation of the project during the past 14 days.
At the beginning of the meeting Governor of the capital city and Mayor of Ulaanbaatar D.Sumiyabazar said “As part of the plan to develop Ulaanbaatar from a concentric city to a multi-centric city, the first phase of the project "Ger Areas Development Investment Program" was successfully implemented. Moreover, the green affordable housing project has been successfully launched, and this year, the first apartment of 220 households is underway by using the infrastructure created by the project. Therefore, I would like to express my gratitude for the joint implementation of this project, which is very important to increase the availability of engineering infrastructure and social buildings of Ulaanbaatar city’s ger area. In order to intensify the project, the capital will resolve the contract extension, consulting services and investment required for sub-centers.”
The representatives participated in the meeting expressed that if the Ulaanbaatar city administration supports the project, the Asian Development Bank will intensify the implementation of the project and cooperate more tightly.
Within the framework of the implementation of the Ulaanbaatar Master Plan 2030 and the development from a concentric city to a multi-centric city, "Ger Areas Development Investment Program" has been implemented since 2013 in three phases. The project, which is implemented with soft loans from the Asian Development Bank and the European Investment Bank, will expire this year; therefore, the parties agreed to exchange views and support mutually.
