Governor of the Capital City and Mayor of Ulaanbaatar D.Sumiyabazar held a meeting with UNICEF Representative in Mongolia Evariste Kouassi-Komlan.
Youth is the future of the nation. The future development and prospects of the country depend on the children’s growth and education. Therefore, it is crucial to ensure their right to live in a healthy and safe environment and protect their physical and mental health. Thus, the capital city is taking the initiative to implement a pilot program aimed at children.
In this context, the Mayor expressed willingness to work together with the UNICEF to implement this program and asked to set up an international advisory team. He said, “It is important for children and youth to have a united vision. We need to create an environment where youth can develop mentally and physically and spend their free time properly. It is also of utmost importance to increase the involvement of parents and educators. Therefore, we intend to cooperate in a wider scope and carry out activities and take measures at the policy level”.
Expressing support to the Mayor’s proposal, UNICEF Representative in Mongolia Evariste Kouassi-Komlan said that he exchanged views with Mongolia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations to discuss the 2023-2027 program agenda, emphasizing, “UNICEF in Mongolia is fully committed to supporting this program.
