The European Union Delegation to Mongolia organized a “Europe Day” on May 28 at Sukhbaatar Square. The event was attended by Governor of the Capital City and Mayor of Ulaanbaatar D.Sumiyabazar, Ambassadors of the EU member countries to Mongolia, and Director of the European Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs G.Battungalag.

In her opening remarks delivered at the meeting, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the European Union to Mongolia Axelle Nicaise said “We are very pleased to bring a day of authentic cultures, experiences, and products from Member States of the European Union to Mongolia’s capital city for our Mongolian friends to experience.”

Ulaanbaatar has friendly relations and cooperation with over 40 cities of EU countries

Mayor emphasized that the capital city of Ulaanbaatar has friendly relations and cooperation with over 40 cities of EU countries. He also added “Over the past 30 years, Ulaanbaatar has expanded and intensified its cooperation with the cities of the EU countries in the fields of economy, health, education, culture and society. Ulaanbaatar city has set a goal to further expand its cooperation with EU countries and cities in many fields such as business, economy, education, health and technology. On behalf of the people of Mongolia, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the European Union.”

Two-side trade flows are now approached pre-pandemic levels

Director of the European Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs G.Battungalag said, “This event is significant to present the scope and results of the Mongolia-EU relations. The Government of Mongolia is focusing on reviving the post-pandemic economy, increasing exports, strengthening relations with countries, and expanding cooperation. The EU is Mongolia's third neighbor, and we are pleased that our cooperation is deepening in all areas, including economics, education, environment, ecology, trade and services.

The people who participated in the event learned more about EU, its member states, companies and products, cultural-educational institutes, visa service company and EU-funded projects.
