Since the Ger Area Redevelopment Project was launched in 2010, 11,755 apartments have been commissioned on the 2,519 vacated units of land in 28 locations in the ger area by 43 project implementers. The first closure event of the project was held on May 3.
Deputy Mayor of Ulaanbaatar in charge of Construction, Housing, Industry, and Technology Park B.Sukhbaatar said, “The ger area redevelopment project started with land acquisition in the 7th district of Sukhbaatar district. The contractors selected to implement to project are completing their works one after another during these days. One of the contractors is Monted Construction LLC. At the same time, more redevelopment works are now underway in many other parts of ger areas. To keep the project successful, the Capital City is resolving the issues of engineering network and its budgeted costs in phases”.
Within the framework of the project, Monted Construction LLC built 11 blocks of apartments for 875 households on 4.8 hectares of land in ger area and put them into commission.
Fifty percent of the citizens of Ulaanbaatar city live in apartments and another 50 percent in ger areas. The redevelopment project has the potential to make infrastructure accessible for 128,000 households, which will require about MNT 270 billion. The officials present at the closure event emphasized that the revised organizational project is planned to be implemented in the remaining areas where an engineering network is not available.
