The "Mayor's Ulaanbaatar Challenger" 3x3 world grand prix basketball tournament named after the Mayor of the capital city was held. Nine foreign teams and five Mongolian teams competed in the tournament, which is one of the official qualification series for the "Paris-2024" Olympic Games. Antwerp Giants from Belgium, the champion, and Ulaanbaatar MMC Energy, Mongolia, the runner-up, were qualified to participate in the Grand Slam to be held in Lausanne, Switzerland in August.

The "Ulaanbaatar Challenger" competition has been organized since 2017, and this year it was expanded to become a tournament named after the capital's Mayor. It is also unique in that it took place after the FIBA 3x3 World Cup 2023. The competition was judged by referees appointed by the FIBA, and the Mongolian 3x3 Basketball Association was responsible for the organization.

The capital started to build new 3x3 basketball courts in 118 locations in nine districts by public-private partnership. Thus, in 2022, 3x3 basketball courts were built in a total of 34 locations, while this year it is planned to be built in 40 locations.
