Governor of the capital city and Mayor of Ulaanbaatar D.Sumiyabazar received the delegation led by Asian Development Bank (ADB) Country Director for Mongolia Pavit Ramachandran.
At the beginning of the meeting, the mayor expressed his gratitude for ADB’s important contribution and support to the development of Ulaanbaatar city over the past 30 years. He pointed out that the ADB is the biggest partner of Ulaanbaatar city, which cooperates in increasing the availability of engineering infrastructure and affordable housing, and supports the creation of a healthy and safe environment for the residents of the ger districts.
He also expressed his willingness to cooperate with the ADB in capacity building in the areas of public-private partnerships and concessions, providing professional advice and assistance in certain areas, and public transport fleet renovation.
Mayor highlighted that the capital city authorities fully support the redevelopment of the ger area and affordable housing projects. He said, “It would be a pleasure to cooperate with the ADB in establishing an international cargo transportation and logistics center in the eastern and western parts of Ulaanbaatar city, introducing a taxi service that meets international standards, establishing an international standard library, and implementing a project to use waste ash from power plants".
ADB Country Director for Mongolia Pavit Ramachandran emphasized the importance of ger area redevelopment and affordable housing projects.
As a result of the meeting, the parties agreed to explore the possibilities of cooperation in the framework of public transport fleet renovation.
