Online voting for 2023 priority local development projects in progress

2023 Local Development Fund (LDF) e-voting was officially launched on April 15, 2022, to continue until June 1, 2022, through e-Mongolia mobile application and the website – www.emongolia.mn.

This year, MNT 28.5 billion will be spent from the LDF to solve the pressing issues facing the citizens and improve the living environment in the capital city. 70 percent of the budget was allocated to the capital city and 30 percent to the districts in the past. For this year, the ratio has changed to 50:50, which means the amount of money allocated to districts has increased.

Established in 2013 within the Budget Law, the LDF’s sources are pooled as certain percentages of the state revenues including VAT, royalties, exploration, and mining license incomes.

The projects with the most votes in the e-voting will be selected for implementation with the funding from LDF in the year of 2023. E-voting was only available for the capital city residents in the past. However, from this year on, people from all over the country are able to participate in the voting. The number of people participating in the voting is increasing year by year, with 13,000 Ulaanbaatar residents voting in 2018 and 369,656 in the 2021 voting. This number is equivalent to 46.21 percent of eligible voters. Thus, the citizens were urged to actively take part in the e-voting to make their contributions to address the issues.
